Description: This watercolor was created after a 10.5-mile hike along the Allegheny Trail on a hot summer’s day. This lush and remote area of the Cheat Canyon protects a few endangered species and allows the biodiversity of West Virginia’s unique flora and fauna to thrive.  It also highlights the large boulders of the rugged Cheat River which hosts a challenging whitewater race for thousands each year.

Bio: Heidi Nisbett is a professional artist, muralist and outdoor enthusiast with over 5,000 international miles of hiking.  In 2024, she thru hiked West Virginia’s longest hiking trail, the 311-mile Allegheny Trail (ALT) to illustrate the backpacking and thru hiking experience.  Her artwork showcases the beauty that the Allegheny Trail has to offer deep in the Appalachian Mountains of WV.  She has over 5,000 miles of international hiking and painted a gorgeous mural in Durbin, WV as well.
