Around these dates, several members of the WVSTA, and maybe some other folks, plan to camp, and also reserve a cabin or cabins at Watoga State Park, in Pocahontas county. If you want to join us for any number of days or nights during this period, to hike or hangout with us, contact the WVSTA on Facebook, and let us know.
There are plenty of things to do at West Virginia's largest state park, and surrounding area, including plenty of hiking, bicycling, bird watching, fishing, kayaking, Greenbrier River Trail, and other activities, or just rusticate at the campsite or cabin. One of the things we plan to do is hike on the Allegheny Trail in or near the park, and hike around the old growth area of the park.
If you think you are interested, contacting us earlier rather than later will give us a better chance of working out any shared arrangements for accommodations. There is a primitive campground without electric, where you can use showers that are several miles away, along with two other campgrounds with showers and electric and water for your campers.
