The Allegheny Trail - Section 2

Winter weather and major floods regularly bring down trees in several areas. Volunteers and Forest Service personnel are constantly working to remove blowdowns and repair damaged trail, but the work is slow. Please be patient and be prepared for obstacles.

Section 2 Trail Coordinator:  Kieran O'Malley - kieran.omalley@frontiernet.net

Useful note; water was scarce along the trail, but we did find flowing water on the west side of the ridgeline a few hundred yards down from the gap where Wildell shelter is located.  Even the John’s Camp Shelter spring was dry.  Until autumn rains bring the ground water level up, hikers may have to do as we did to find water.

If you are interested in helping to complete the Allegheny Trail, or to work on any part of it, contact the coordinator for section 2.
